“Amari Shala, Digital Shala” is a flagship initiative by Udan Foundation aimed at transforming government primary schools by digitizing decades of manual student and school records. In many rural and urban schools across Gujarat, critical data such as enrollment, category, transfers, and All details are still maintained in physical registers—resulting in time-consuming processes, frequent errors, and data loss. This project bridges the digital gap by creating centralized, secure, and easily accessible digital records for every student.
So far, the project has successfully digitized over 12,00,000+ student records across 210+ government schools in the Bhavnagar district. It not only reduces the administrative burden on principals and teachers but also improves transparency, accuracy, and long-term student tracking. By identifying bright or underprivileged students early, it creates a foundation for targeted support like scholarships and rewards. The project also generates local employment by training rural youth as data entry operators and aligns with national priorities like Digital India and SDG 4 – Quality Education.
